八展室——秘密金库  金库是镖局临时存放银两的地方，根据合约，镖局如失落银两，需全额赔偿，因此，镖局十分重视金库的管理，为保障金库的安全，镖局还制定有严格的规章制度。一、非库丁严禁出入。二、库丁不得擅离职守。三、银钱出入应由总镖头提取。这个叫做鞘，把圆木内部掏空，最多存放一千两白银，押镖用它来掩人耳目，以为运的是木材。

Exhibition Hall 8 — The Secret Vault
 
The secret vault served as a temporary storage space for silver bullion of the armed escort agency. According to signed contracts, the agency was obligated to fully compensate clients for any lost silver. For this reason, strict management rules were enforced to safeguard the vault:
 
1. No personnel other than designated vault keepers were permitted entry.

2. Vault attendants were not allowed to leave their posts without authorization.

3. Only the head escort could withdraw or deposit silver funds.
 
This hollow wooden cylinder is known as a qiao. Carved out of solid log, it could hold a maximum of 1,000 taels of silver. It was used during escort trips as a disguise, making onlookers believe the cargo was merely timber.
